The Response of Turbidity Maximum to Peak River Discharge in a Macrotidal Estuary

چکیده
The Ou River, a medium-sized river in the southeastern China, is examined to study estuarine turbidity maximum (ETM) response rapidly varied discharge, i.e., peak discharge (PRD). This analyzes difference ETM and sediment transport mechanisms between low-discharge PRD during neap spring tides by using Finite-Volume Community Ocean Model. three-dimensional model validated in-situ measurements from 23 April 22 May 2007. In River Estuary (ORE), generally induced convergence runoff density-driven flow. position of for similar, but suspended concentration tide stronger than that tide. source mainly derived resuspension seabed. PRD, compared with low-discharge, can dilute ETM, cause more be resuspended seaward PRD. After larger longer recovery time will be. Moreover, supply helps shorten time. Mechanisms this contribute studies morphological evolution pollutant flushing.

Dynamics of the turbidity maximum zone in a micro-tidal estuary: Hawkesbury River, Australia
Bed sediment, velocity and turbidity data are presented from a large (145 km long), generally well-mixed, micro-tidal estuary in south-eastern Australia. The percentage of mud in the bed sediments reaches a maximum in a relatively narrow zone centred 30±40 km from the estuary mouth. Regular tidal resuspension of these bed sediments produces a turbidity maximum (TM) zone in the same location. Th...

chapter i provides an overview of structural linguistics and touches upon the saussurean dichotomies with the final goal of exploring their relevance to the stylistic studies of literature. to provide evidence for the singificance of the study, chapter ii deals with the controversial issue of linguistics and literature, and presents opposing views which, at the same time, have been central to t...

Methylmercury (MeHg) bioaccumulation in marine food webs poses risks to fish-consuming populations and wildlife. Here we develop and test an estuarine mercury cycling model for a coastal embayment of the Bay of Fundy, Canada. Mass budget calculations reveal that MeHg fluxes into sediments from settling solids exceed losses from sediment-to-water diffusion and resuspension. Although measured met...
